Children of the star of the rock’n’roll Johnny Cash responded via Facebook to the white-supremacist wearing a t-shirt bearing the image of their father. The explicit message reminds us how the struggles of Johnny Cash were the opposite of the ideas of the extreme american right that we have been able to see them at work during the fighting in Charlottesville on Saturday 12 August.

Shocked. The children of Johnny Cash fell on a video showing a white supremacist american wearing a t-shirt bearing the image of their father, during fighting in Charlottesville, Saturday, August 12th. They wished to express their disapproval via a message on Facebook.

We have been alerted to a video showing a young man in Charlottesville, a neo-nazi assumed, spewing his hatred and bile. He was wearing a t-shirt emblazoned with the name of Johnny Cash, our father. This assimilation made us sick.”

They then wanted to recall the ideals of their father, to the opposite extreme of those worn by a neo-nazi : “The heart of Johnny Cash was beating to the rhythm of love and social justice. […] He defended the rights of native americans, opposed the war in Vietnam, it was a voice for the poor, those who struggle against the deprivation of their basic rights. […] His pacifism and patriotism were two of his character traits are the most obvious.”

Rosanne, Kathy, Cindy, Tara and John Carter Cash have wished to bear witness in the name of their father : “He would be horrified at the idea of an operation is only occasional in its name or its image, to an ideal or a cause based on persecution and hatred. The white supremacist and neo-nazis who marched in Charlottesville are a poison in our society, and an insult to all the heroes americans who have worn the uniform to fight the nazis during the Second world War.”

End of the message, the two brothers send a clear message to neo-nazis : “Our father, as a person, icon, or symbol, has nothing to do with you. We ask that the name Cash is always held away from the ideals hateful and destructive.” As he said himself, to his children : “You can choose between love and hate. Me I choose love.” Her children also.

Other personalities have pushed a rant after having been associated to a fact racist, as for example Kevin Mayer, the young champion of the Decathlon. On 12 August, the athlete has intercepted a message on Twitter that he immediately condemned : “Thank you to kevin Mayer, which proves how the white race is beautiful !” – ” It is not punished by the law this kind of tweet? “
