Dany Boon: “I’m crazy about my wife”

Three years after Supercondriaque , Dany Boon fate Raid Mad , his fifth film as director. A comedy very successful, generous and sincere, in which he gives the reply to Alice Pol, formidable police gaffeuse. We submitted a “crazy stiff” questionnaire.

Are you stiff of Alice Pol?

Dany Boon: I’m crazy about her game. She is a very funny actress, who has a very wide palette and a very strong comic nature, with a lot of inventiveness and a childish side too. I realized it by discovering it on stage. Pascal Chaumeil , for whom I have a thought, introduced us and then pass tests for a small role in Supercondriaque . I then saw its potential. Alice was also lucky because she came for a reading with Kad Merad and she read a bit all the female characters because no other actress was available that day. I told myself it would not hurt to play the main role of female Supercondriaque . On set, I discovered someone very funny and that fits perfectly into the duet I was training with Kad, which is not obvious believe me. And then she is not afraid to make fun of herself, to make faces, to go thoroughly, which is very nice for a director. It is not in my next film, but I will work with her again because I like to find the same actors as Anne Marivin in Raid Goofy .

Are you crazy stiff with Pierre Richard , to whom is Alice Pol compared for his role in your film?

DB: Yes completely. I had the chance to meet him and I find that there is a twin between him and Alice Pol, that same distracted side, that poetry of distraction. They are both poetic distracts. And I take as a very nice compliment the fact that we say that in Raid Dingue it evokes Pierre Richard.

Are you crazy stiff of the police?

DB: I am very admiring their dedication. And not just RAID people because I’ve been around them for two and a half years, and I see how brave, humble, self-sacrificing they are, and that they are dedicating their lives to protecting ours. At the march for all, I was very moved that the policemen were applauded as they were. I wanted to autograph the film. RAID people like it a lot, they told me that I did not betray them and that it was fairly realistic.

Are you crazy steeped in popular comedies?

DB: Yes, always. I love the films of Gérard Oury , Bourvil, De Funès, Fernandel since I was a child. My favorite movies are The Big Mop, The Dinner Cons … It’s also what I like to do and for now I do not want to realize another kind of movie, I want to make people laugh, That’s all I’m interested in.

Are you crazy about your 50?

DB: I’m crazy in my life. The 50 years have not been a difficult heading to pass. In my show I even joked about it. Everything goes well, I am full, I do the job that I love and give me the means to make the films that I want so all goes well.

Are you crazy about your wife?

DB: Yes, obviously, I’m crazy about my wife. I work with her and that’s important to me. We are very accomplices, very close, it’s been 15 years now that we are together. It’s very rare in showbusiness where you have to multiply by 7 as for dogs (laughs). This longevity comes from the fact that my job is part of my life. To make laughter, to tell stories, I live with it, I work with that. To be able to have a couple and family life, I therefore integrate my family in my work and it happens wonderfully well.

Are you crazy steep from the scene?

DB: Yes. I said I was going to stop the one man show, even if it should never ever be said. My last show went very well, the welcome was great, but now I want to do theater. I want to write plays.

Are you crazy about your future project?

DB: Absolutely. My next film is called A pretty little family and tells the story of a Parisian designer very mondain, very bobo and who is ashamed of his origins ch’tis, prolo. I’ll play it. I return to the North and the Sticks because it is in me, it is my personality. It is a project that I have since 2011 and that I keep pushing back because I did not want to chain soon after Welcome to the Sticks . But I wanted to come back to my region, I love it and I want to turn it again. And then I’ll find Line Renaud and I’m delighted . Filming will begin in June, for a release in February 2018.
