It was not a secret for anyone, Michel Sardou and Johnny Hallyday were angry since 2007. Even if he paid tribute to him on learning of his death, the singer of The disease of love has not made the trip for his farewell ceremony.

“Let’s keep it in our hearts, as we cherish our youth. Johnny was courageous until the end. Unfortunately, there are battles that no man, however powerful he is, cannot win. Let us remember the great moments he has offered us.” With these words, Michel Sardou, considered the eternal rival of Johnny Hallyday, was keen to pay tribute to the idol of the young. The two singers were still angry since 2007. At the time, Sardou had qualified Jade, the first of the little girls he had adopted in Vietnam, “Viet-Cong”. A term that has not been the taste of Johnny…after the Johnny Hallyday had referred to Sardou in speaking of an “old con-reac” reproaching him also to “give lessons to all the world.”

Not surprising, in these circumstances, that the singer of The illness of love had not been part of the circle close to the clan Hallyday, invited us to accompany him on this day of tribute popular. But it is not the only one to be conspicuously absent from this tribute popular, a religious ceremony held at the Madeleine.

Like Jean-Jacques Goldman, who had yet composed an album for Johnny Hallyday, Catherine Deneuve, who had shared with him the poster of Paris, and Jacques Dutronc, who claimed to prefer “crying in his corner”, Michel Sardou has not made the trip up to the church of the Madeleine. There is no doubt that these “great absent” will find the words, the gestures to express their emotion and their solidarity with the family of one who has departed from us on Wednesday.
