After a silence of several months, HBO revives the flame of the fans of the author H. P. Lovecraft : the series is adapted from his writings comes to find a director.

Announced in the month of may last, the series Lovecraft Country is not a directly adjusted to the new cult of the writer Howard Philips Lovecraft, the creator of the Cthulhu mythos, but rather an inspiring assumed and révendiquée of his universe. A choice a little surprising , but which includes, as its narratives are deemed to inadaptables (and are a bit of a bummer, isn’t it Guillermo ?).

Disappointed ? There is still something to be enthusiastic : it is a command from the great HBO including nothing less than Jordan Peele, the director/screenwriter oscar-winning the great Get Out. It is only happen, however, but what one learns with joy today, it is the director that he has dug up is clearly not a penguin.

Yann Demange, on the set of ’71

In effect, directors who are up this time without anyone noticing, Yann Demange is without doubt one of the most promising. ’71 is the only feature film that he has to his credit at the moment, but it is so good and stuffy as it is the irrefutable proof that the guy knows how to use a camera with brilliance (as if we needed one after the no-less-excellent series Dead Set).

Hollywood is not is not deceived, since it has long been part of the short list of directors being considered to shoot the next James Bond, before Danny Boyle retrieves the place (in any case for the moment).

It goes wrong for Jack O’connell in ’71

In short, Yann Demange is not a blue, far away, and it is therefore become available for our enjoyment for Lovecraft Country, thus completing a team of the fire of God ready to tackle one of the best pieces of fantasy literature of horror.

And as it is hard to wait, to wait, Yann Demange will make us enjoy his second film White Boy Rick with Matthew McConaughey and Jennifer Jason Leigh September 19, 2018. Of course we can’t wait to see it. And you, if this is not done, it repeats again : see ’71, this is the bomb.
