Married for 22 years, Hugh Jackman and Deborra-Lee Furness are exceptions in Hollywood. During his visit to Paris, for the promotion of The Greatest Showman, in cinemas this Wednesday, January 24th, the actor has entrusted to us the secrets of longevity of its torque.

“Deborra and I met in my early days. I was 26 years old, I went out to the penalty of the theatre school. She has always been there for me ever since.” Hugh Jackman has star full the eyes when he speaks of his wife now for 22 years.
Their meeting took place on the filming of the australian series Correlli in 1995. As his character of Barnum in The Greatest Showman, (in cinemas this Wednesday, January 24,) who has done everything to impress the woman of his heart, Charity, Hugh is trying to impress Deborra-Lee: “I don’t know anyone who drag without wanting to impress! But unlike the other girlfriends I’ve had, with her, I quickly felt very comfortable. I knew that I could be myself, and not a version dream of me.”

At the time, Hugh Jackman was given 5 years to succeed, to make a name for himself, and says he is ready to change his career if he is unable to penetrate. But Deborra-Lee, she believes in him: “it is as if she had everything planned. She told me: “you’re going to succeed, I see for you a very great career. I thought she was looking just to flatter me, but 22 years later I can say she was right!”

The actor is excited to be with someone who knows it by heart, and who “was known before the success.” There have of course been ups and downs, and Hugh Jackman explains that the secret to longevity of a couple resides in the ability to “communicate, to talk about everything: what is much, less, annoying, embarrassing, even shameful. If you need your makeup wake up for the other, this is not a good sign.”
We will remember this great lesson!
