Emmanuel Macron will also not make act of presence, but will give himself the eulogy of Simone Veil. The Elysee palace says that the ex-minister of Economy will address, then, the ” three dimensions of the life of Simone Veil “: its commitment to Europe, its belief feminists and the drama of the Second world war.
Exemplary throughout her career, Simone Veil was, already in his lifetime, unanimously recognized and accepted by the representatives of different political movements. Three former presidents of the Republic will do as well on the road this Wednesday: François Hollande, Nicolas Sarkozy and Valery Giscard d’estaing. Jacques Chirac, very close to Simone Veil, will unfortunately not make the trip, his health greatly reducing its mobility. During these funeral worthy of a head of State, the JDD specifies that Simone Veil will be entitled to military honours. The log also indicates that the French flags will be decorated with black crepe as a sign of mourning, while the flags of europe will be half-masted. Following the funeral held at the Invalides, Simone Veil will be interred in the Montparnasse cemetery beside the love of her life, Anthony, who died four years ago. Some of the French hope, however, that the ex-President of the european Parliament ultimately rests in the Pantheon.
