Amazon is the household in its line-up and cancels 3 comedies, including Jean-Claude Van Johnson…
In the race with the competition in the video subscription, Netflix is now strongly challenged by Hulu, but behind there are also Amazon. The platform of video on demand applies the same strategy as Hulu (which you were already spoken), namely, find content to “noble”, in the sense, popular both with the public and critics, to build a prestigious image.
Except that if Hulu is currently in the process of testing the new content, Amazon is rather in a cleaning mode of the catalog. So you learn today that three series have just moved to the hatch.
People don’t love Dick
One is little surprised at first by the cancellation of I Love Dick. This new series from the creator of the very popular Transparent (moreover, it even in a bad way) was in fact received very tièdement by the public and the press, despite the presence of star Kevin Bacon in the lead role.
For One Mississippi, things are a little different. The series of Tig Notaro and Diablo Cody has been cancelled after two seasons despite critical reception very enthusiastic, the-season 2 up all the same the beautiful score 100% positive reviews on Rotten Tomatoes. Amazon did not advance a reason for this cancellation, but we can assume that it did not market to the public, or that the streaming platform wants to erase any trace of Louis C. K. of his history.
Tig Notaro
The actor-comedian is one of the producers of the series, and unfortunately it is also entangled for years in many allegations of sexual harassment, and since the case Weinstein, things have obviously gone from bad to worse. Despite a scene from season 2 of One Mississippi openly against Louis C. K (which we see a powerful man masturbating in front of a woman’s non-consenting, behavior seems typical of the actor), his mere presence in the team of production may be enough to tip the balance to the wrong side. Finally, the third and final series cancelled, Jean-Claude Van Johnson.
People don’t love Jean-Claude Van Johnson
This is hardly surprising, given the nature of the work, but we will still shed a tear. Jean-Claude Van Johnson has been canceled only a month after its release, which means that she probably has no market. It is a shame, because despite its few flaws, the series was definitely worth the detour and, after the season finale was very moving, really had the potential to become a playground television very playful.
It is even more heart-breaking than Jean-Claude Van Damme is a very good actor (yes yes) who never ceases to proclaim his desire devouring back in the heart of the public in the roles of qualities. It will not be this time, but in ours, there is engraved. And seriously, there’s not a producer on this damn planet to give a real good role action or science fiction to our belgian favorite and under-appreciated ??
