Jeffrey Tambor considers that the investigation conducted on him by Amazon for sexual harassment on the set of Transparent is “deeply unfair and sloppy”.

Last Thursday, Amazon announced that Jeffrey Tambor was permanently expelled from the fifth season of Transparent in response to accusations of sexual harassment from his former assistant, her makeup artist and actress Trace Lysette. This whole thing has greatly saddened the fans of the series, who, ironically, bears just his heart in a strong complex topic of gender identity in addition to being a cultural guidepost for many communities already bullied for their sexual orientations.

This irony has not escaped the actor, who has not failed to recover it to turn it to its advantage in its statement of defence :

Jeffrey Tambor

“I am deeply disappointed by the management by Amazon of these false accusations against me. I’m even more disappointed by the unfair portrait of my person by Jill Soloway (showrunneuse of Transparent, editor’s NOTE) which I depicted as someone that could hurt his former colleagues. During the four years of our collaboration for this show, incredible, these accusations have NEVER been discussed with me directly or from Amazon. Thus, I can only believe that the investigation against me is deeply biased and sloppy because of the political atmosphere toxic, which has covered our tray.

Jill Soloway

How I’ve constantly repeated, I’m deeply sorry if any of my actions have been misinterpreted by anyone and I will continue to defend myself vehemently. I also regret deeply that this show revolutionary who has changed so many lives is now at risk. This is my biggest grief.”

Jeffrey Tambor has played since 2014 the character of Maura Pfefferman, a transgender woman born a man and in the process of gender transition. That had earned him two prestigious Emmys in 2015 and 2016 and a new appointment in 2017, before his career crashed in the whirlwind Weinstein.
