In the night from Saturday to Sunday, a nurse was assaulted by a intoxicated man to the hospital of Meaux. The man of thirty years, had been brought by the fire brigades in the emergency department.

The events took place at around 4h20. While the caregiver was in the process of care. The patient “violently grabbed and he was wounded in the wrist,” said a police source. Unknown to police, he was arrested and placed in police custody.

This aggression is unfortunately not a unique case. At the end of June, a man of 44 years was stabbed 3 people who patientaient to the emergency room of a hospital in Seine-Saint-Denis. His act would have been motivated by ” a bad look “.

A plan of € 75 million

The nurses and doctors are the targets of this type of aggression. In its annual report released in August 2016, the national Observatory of violence in healthcare environments (ONVS) had identified for the year 2014 some 18,000 victims reported, “a hospital victim every 30 minutes”. In 2015, over 80 reports were made by nurses.

Infuriated, the caregivers are mobilized repeatedly over the money month. In October 2016, a plan of 75 million euros over 3 years was presented. Its objective : to enhance safety within health institutions.

But hospitals are not the only places affected by the violence. The récnte aggression of a general practitioner in the North has made a lot of noise. A petition was even launched to require resources, and to ensure the safety of patients and doctors.
