You always wait until the sixth volume in Game of Thrones ? George R. R. Martin has made the series Nightflyers in the meantime. Happy ?

While hordes of fans gnaw their brakes waiting for to finally know how the saga literary The Iron Throne is about to finish, George R. R. Martin has decided to increase the number of the parallel projects. Used to working for television since the 80’s when he’s not writing, it is logically returned to his first love.

A priori, we expect : a series of post-apocalyptic Sudan, a history of werewolves how polar black (in the 80’s ?), a historical narrative more or less autobiographical… and Nightflyers, a horror series into space for Netflix and SyFy. The latter has just unveiled a first teaser below :

“In the future, the Earth is on the brink of being destroyed. A team of explorers embark on board one of the vessels to the most sophisticated of the galaxy, the Nightflyer, in order to intercept a mysterious alien spacecraft which could be the key to their survival. But their on-board computer could give them a watery grave… “

Netflix has the taste of SF at this moment in time, whether spatial or cyberpunk. Nightflyers successor, in effect, to Altered Carbon, Lost in space, Mute, Annihilation and The Cloverfield Paradox. If the disappointment that was this last would have been cool to see a writer of the quality of George R. R. Martin tackling a similar project of massacre spatial revives strongly in our interest, especially when one knows what he is capable (Pedro Pascal still had the migraine). Nightflyers is expected to arrive on Netflix this fall.
