Created and written by Mika Watkins and directed by Paul W. S. Anderson, Origin is the new series Youtube, which hopes to compete well with Netflix, Hulu and Amazon.

After having ventured on the territory of Spotify and Deezer, is launching a service for streaming music competitor, Youtube has decided to return to the big league and play on the same playing field as Netflix, Amazon or Hulu. The goal :to create its own content, and retain new subscribers to its streaming service of tv series and movies. On 19 September last year, Youtube had already launched its first series of the French, produced by Studio Bagel et Golden Moustache.

Eventually, Youtube Premium account offer almost fifty new original programs exclusive to its platform, in addition to a sixty programs already available. Series, German, british, French, but mostly american. And it’s just as well, since the chain just relay the first trailer of his new show intergalactic.

During the belle époque of Harry Potter

Entitled, the Origin, the series is created and written by Mika Watkins (Troy : the fall of a city) and directed by Paul W. S. Anderson (Resident Evil, Alien vs. Predator). Briefly, it seems to draw in just about all the classics of the genre of science-fiction and films on the space that cinema and television have been able to carry. Mix between Lost in space, Pandorum, or Alien, the eighth passenger, Origin tells the story of a group of people going on a expedition to Theer, an extrasolar planet, far from Earth, the only one able to host the human species. Classic.

In the course of their stasis inside the ship, they are suddenly woken up. They discover then that they are the only passengers aboard the vessel, and a curious “thing” tries to annihilate them. A claustrophobic horror with special effects a little cheap and maigrelets in sum. Youtube does not seem to worry about it and prefer, instead, to rely on the characteristic SF of the series and its cast.

In this case, Origin will before, Tom Felton (Harry Potter) and Natalia Tena (Game of Thrones and Harry Potter too). The series will be released on the 14th of November next.
