Season 2 of Star Trek : Discovery may not happen before 2019

Star Trek : Discovery is a small event in itself, since it had been over 10 years since the famous universe was absent from the tv screens. And as apparently, the series has the air of please, you have to expect to live in his company for a little while.

Yet, she has not had a genesis of the most easy because the showrunner initial, Bryan Fuller, big fan of the saga, wanted to we offer the series final on Star Trek , but has been lured by economic realities that have prevented it from doing what it wanted to and caused a big delay. But all is well that ends well, the first two episodes of Discovery have been broadcast on a Sunday evening and, to our surprise, we liked it a lot.

If the first step has been taken with gusto, the biggest remains to be done, since the series must now convince us about the duration. And, from this point of view, the third episode will be the determining factor. It seems also that this episode is a sort of new driver in order to introduce properly the heroine in his new role and that it would be a time certain after what we have just be told. The series, however, is far from being complete, since at the time we write these lines, only 4 episodes have been completed, the fifth between mixing and, on the side of the shoot, the team is about to shoot episode 16. This is called working to tight deadlines.

Therefore, arises obviously the question of the continuation of the series, the time it will take to discover a season 2, if, however, Discovery is renewed (which should not be too complicated) and the current state of things. And the producer Alex Kurtzman, although it is very busy with season 1, has just admitted to the microphone in the Hollywood Reporter that they thought they were already in season 2 and how to produce it in the best way :

“Ideally, it will occur at the beginning of 2019. We have had preliminary discussions on the when and how are we going to do this season 2. We are very consistent in our ads because, rather than swinging a date and having to push it back once again, we would prefer to take the time to talk about it and learn from our experience on season 1.

Now we know what we’re capable of, and what are the pitfalls, so let us allow ourselves the time necessary to announce a date that will suit everyone. Make an announcement in the fall is very easy, it is our ability to stick to it after which the hard. Then take the time it takes to do things right.”

And we can only agree with him, especially given the quality of the first episodes of Discovery. Therefore, if this good trend continues in the following episodes, take your time guys, we will be there when the time came. Zero pressure.
