Stranger Things break the bank, Netflix orders season 3

The vintage series from Netflix is positioned at the head of the hearings of the streaming platform

We suspected a little, but Stranger Things seems to have been successful as Netflix renews for season 3. We said “seems” : in fact, Netflix is, like the vast majority of platforms of streaming, never communicates his figures. However, there are organizations to measure and study consumption, very reliable make an idea.

And one of them, by the name of Nielsen, has published its figures for Stranger Things , and they are very good. 15.8 Million viewers have watched the first episode of season 2 in the first three days of its release, et 361 000 registered would have watched the entire season 2 in 24 hours according to the organization. According to the Hollywood Reporter, the series would be the largest franchise to Netflix.

As a highlight, one also learns that Stranger Things has been renewed for a season 3. But it would seem that there has been a small change of the program anyway. In fact, Netflix wanted to turn back-to-back seasons 3 and 4 in order to avoid confrontation to the physical changes of the young actors, in full growth. But the show runners Matt and Ross Duffer, as well as producers Shawn Levy and Dan Cohen opposed it.

And then, incredible but true, the reasons would be purely human and artistic (always according to the Hollywood Reporter) : they don’t want to rush into writing and want children-actors take advantage precisely of their childhood outside of the trays of shoots. The producers and show runners don’t want, therefore, not impose both films in a single year. One will appreciate, the guys are nice anyway, and we can only salute this solicitude on their part !
