The Alienist is one of the major works of the black novel. Twisted, macabre, its transposition on the small screen is a great idea.

At the time of our civilization craves blood, gore, and morality was more than doubtful, it would seem that the longer a series draws towards violence, outrageous aesthetic to draw the lowest depths of the human soul, the greater the success will be waiting for you. The boxes of Game of Thrones or The Walking Dead being the most beautiful examples. The Alienist should surf on this trend more than a carrier.

The pitch of the book ? A series of murders of young prostitutes shakes the shallows of Manhattan. Aliéniste occupation, Laszlo Kreizler (Daniel Bruhl) decides to lead the investigation with his old friend John Moore (Luke Evans). Sara Howard (Dakota Fanning), the secretary wishing to become one of the first women police as well as the brothers Isaacson will join them to trace the psychological profile of the murderer. Despite a society in which all obstacles stand in front of them to hinder their investigation, they persevere to try to unravel the mystery of this sordid serial murderer…
