The streaming platform Netflix will produce Ratched, the new show director, writer and producer Ryan Murphy.

While the seventh season ofAmerican Horror Story has just started on FX (our review of the season premiere is HERE), the creator of the anthology already reveals one of its new projects : Ratched. Ryan Murphy will produce a series prequel to the book and the cult classic Flight over the cuckoo’s nest.

The show will focus on the past of the ruthless nurse Mildred Ratched and will follow its progress “lethal” in the health system until arrival at the psychiatric hospital in the film by Milos Forman.

Beautifully performed by Louise Fletcher in the long-feature film, 1976 (winner of the Oscar for best actress), the nurse will be incarnated here by Sarah Paulson, the muse of the showrunner of AHS. Co-produced by Michael Douglas and Ryan Murphy, the scenario Ratched will be written by the young and unknown Evan Romansky.

It is on Netflix that the series will be broadcast as the streaming platform has won exclusivity on the nose and the beard of Hulu and Apple. Netflix has already ordered two seasons (18 episodes) Ryan Murphy. The production should start by mid-2018. No broadcast date has not been announced for the moment.
