In the studio for the recording of his new album, Francoise Hardy, told people’s magazine about his memories of Johnny Hallyday, that she knew since his first steps in music at the beginning of the years 60.

When in 1961, Françoise Hardy is looking for a record label, she ends up quite naturally by turning to Vogue, who has already signed Johnny Hallyday and he is looking for a female counterpart. If they started side-by-side, their careers will take a turn different. But the two artists will remain for years in the same circle of friends, Françoise Hardy, Johnny Hallyday, Jacques Dutronc, Sylvie Vartan… names that evoke today a band that is blowing a wind of freshness on the music in France in the 60’s.

In Télérama, a few weeks after the death of Johnny Hallyday, the singer shared her memories : “It must not be forgotten that Johnny was very “buddies”. His friendships were male. If I have a lot of crossover at the time yéyé, I was especially close to Sylvie. In 1970, she had a terrible car accident, and she had to leave the United States for treatment. She stayed there for a year ! Johnny, himself, was in France. One day, he calls me to invite me to their homes. Very nice. I was affected… But I was a little cooled by ascertaining on the spot that it was full of very pretty girls around him !” At the time, the accident in question had failed to deface Sylvie Vartan. Their history, which lasted 15 years, was tumultuous, but she will eventually leave him permanently in November 1980.
