Let’s be clear right from the start, we did not like The Defenders. We took the time to tell you why at our risk and peril. And apparently, we were not the only ones.

Let’s be even more clear, because we don’t want to spend our day, we do bollocking for that slab, we have nothing against the series for Marvel on Netflix. We loved the two seasons of Daredevil, really liked Jessica Jones, a little less Luke Cage, as for Iron Fist, we will say that it is complicated. But this does not mean that we cannot expect to death The Punisher. All that to say that when we started to look at The Defenders, it was hot-boiling. And then, something happened. A huge disappointment, that it was immediately related to what was happening behind the scenes. In fact, it is a bit of a war between Disney and Netflix now, the first removing all of her catalogue of the second to open its own streaming service next year, and we think that The Defenders in the bill, intentionally or not. True or false, it starts to make a lot of coincidences.

Now that The Defenders is online since a month, it is time to have the first digit of its release and it is not famous. The institute’s Jumping Shot, specialising in marketing analytics, has actually looked at the scores closely, and published his results, thus confirming that the series is the program the least watched of the pack in their first 30 days.

The Defenders would not in fact achieved 17% of the hearings of season 2 of Daredevil over the same period, 28% ofIron Fist, 27% of Luke Cage and 26% of Jessica Jones. Which, by calculation in reverse, proves that our tastes are in synch with the public Netflix. That said, this is still nothing compared to the loss of spectators of the show from one week to another, since the fall was quite impressive, The Defenders have lost 67% of viewers in its second week, 48% in its third and 41% in its fourth. It’s called a huge gadin.

The alarm is so clearly drawn and Marvel and Netflix needed to react with The Punisher. Change the formula, give them more budget, to take his subject seriously, and give the viewer what he expects. And when we see the first pictures of the future series, we said that it might be the case.
