The first season of The Handmaid’s Tale continues on Hulu and we propose you our criticism of “Nolite Te Bastardes Carborundorum”.
While we were told yesterday with pleasure that The Handmaid’s Tale had already been renewed for a season 2 by Hulu whereas the first one has just begun, it is to episode 4 that one will be interested today hui. “Nolite Te Bastardes Carborundorum”, released yesterday on the VOD platform, tells us more about the world today, but also about the inexorable fall of society and the deprivation of rights that accompanied it. After the disappearance of Ofglen and the punishment of Serena Joy, Offred feels more alone than ever, locked up in her room or visiting a doctor who offers her so kindly to rape her to “help” her. Between a laborious and complicated past, episode 4 continues to show the horrors to which the Handmaids were prepared before being placed in families. A repeated rape hidden by a few passages of the Bible, a total deprivation of right on his body disguised as a blessing … All these terrifying elements but standardized by all those characters who take part with a relentless seriousness to what seems to be the worst joke Of humanity so much is absurd. Moira, supported by June who still had her first name, and convinces her best friend to escape with her. Moira, Who will leave her on the dock to flee to Boston while June is questioned by Eye soldiers. Despite the agreement of June and the visible hesitation of Moira, hard not to feel torn, like the two women, facing this scene of separation. A woman in freedom is better than two imprisoned, but at what price?
Surrounded by captive women like her, Offred realizes that she is not alone and that their common suffering is also their strength. An optimistic message that does good and that we hope to find in the sequel. Waiting for next week, our verdict of the first episodes of The Handmaid’s Tale is still available on melty.
