The return of the Watchmen by the creator of The Leftovers, is not yet won

There are a little over a month, big good news fell since HBO announced its intention to create a series Watchmen with none other than Damon Lindelof to commands. And, immediately, it sent the dream.

Yeah, and this are not the hardcore fans of The Leftovers of the draft that will tell us the opposite, but Damon Lindelof takes a sacred shape for a few years and knew how to make us forget in a beautiful way that it was also one of the progenitors of this large-scale hold-up that was the series Lost. And of course, now that Leftovers, it is finished, we are waiting with baited breath for his new project. So when we hear that HBO would give him the reboot of Watchmen tv series, we get up every morning with the biggest smiles.

Except that in fact, the thing is not also heard that this is because the scriptwriter has just entrusted to the microphone to TVLine that nothing had been set in motion, and for cause :

“At the present time, I have not had any meeting with HBO regarding the Watchmen.”

So, there it is ? It is fucked up ? Our smile morning is a distant memory ? Our days will be more fulfilled than a sky grey and a fine rain like the distress that animates our hearts sensitive ? Not sure, because, you see, Lindelof, it’s still a little clever, and he has made a lot of calls in recent years for proposing the project :

“I’ve been very prolific these past few years regarding my love for this series… On the fact that she was an inspiration more than obvious on all of my narrative work that followed and on the fact that I have a huge debt to her. I have the impression that I have to weigh the pros and cons on the fact that this series has to exist and that is what I am doing at the moment. I would like the base material in such high esteem that it would really be a big drama, to screw up everything… All I can say is that I think a lot about Watchmen at the moment.”

And we also, and to him also. Because, it was nice to do a little round-up of creators and show runners of today, we do not see a better choice than Damon Lindelof to the project. So, HBO, you’re nice, you give him a super contract, you give him all the money he wants but if someone has to do Watchmen, it is him and nobody else.
