According to the researchers of the Institute of epidemiology (EPI), Helmholtz Zentrum München, who have examined the micronutrient status of older workers, one out of two people, aged 65 and over, suffer from deficiencies in vitamin D. we know that our body needs organic substances for its proper functioning, and that vitamin D specifically, is indispensable to the strengthening of the muscles, as well as the consolidation of bones and teeth. Very important parameters in the elderly.

For more than 30 years, the research platform cooperative health KORA examines the impact of environmental factors, life styles and genes on the health of thousands of people living in the south of Germany. To arrive at this result, for the senior citizens, the scientists have examined blood samples of 1 079 people aged 65 to 93 years. Their analysis focused on the levels of the four micronutrients : vitamin D, vitamin B12, iron, and folic acid, emphasized the data presented on the platform, the KORA.
