The Walking Dead might therefore lose one of the most important characters.

It’s a rumor more and more strong these past few weeks : Lauren Cohan, interpreter of Maggie since the second season, would be ready to leave the series to AMC. With the oldest reason in the world : the salary.

The Hollywood Reporter says that the actress, seen recently in the horror film The Boy, has landed one of the leading roles in a pilot for ABC, Whiskey Jumper, opposite Scott Foley. A commitment that, contractually, clearly means that Lauren Cohan is ready to fly elsewhere.

“You’re right, case-sensitive-you as long as you still have a career ahead of you”

For several weeks, the negotiations between Lauren Cohan and the production of The Walking Dead feeding on the rumors about the future of Maggie Greene, appeared during the season 2 to quickly become a pillar of the band Rick. While the contract of the actress has come to an end and that the series is renewed for a ninth season, it is naturally a question of increasing his salary. Contrary to the rumors, Lauren Cohen would not seek to be paid to the height of Andrew Lincoln and Norman Reedus, the male stars of the series. Nevertheless, the offers of the channel AMC in the course of months of discussions have probably not convinced.

Difficult to know if Lauren Cohan and his team are looking to negotiate hard for an increase in the optical to stay in the series, or if the actress is on the verge of switching to something else. Given that The Walking Dead has entered a period of dismal with a drop in audiences, not to mention a quality that more and more questionable and the trial for stories of big, Lauren Cohan will have all the reasons in the world to leave the series to initiate a turn in his career. It is also expected in the thriller Mile 22 with Mark Wahlberg.

Lauren Cohan in The Boy

Seven seasons in a series is more than a result, and after a first film role, in The Boy, Lauren Cohan would be with the series Whiskey Rider a chance to take off. She would play in this series of lightweight action a CIA agent, which forms with an FBI agent to a shock team that saves the world.

Nothing very special, and drivers abandoned by the chains are many each year, but there is obviously the possibility of a window to emerge more easily than in a group series like The Walking Dead. There is also the risk of a driver thrown by the string and a comfortable place lost in a series that is still very popular, but who tries nothing has nothing.

The Walking Dead will be back February 25th for the second part of the season 8.
