In the middle of shooting the series Too Old to Die Young, Nicolas Winding Refn has given his opinion on tv, a medium that he considers to be exceeded.
It may seem paradoxical, but Nicolas Winding Refn has a nice turn in a series, it still felt that the tv belongs to the past, to such an extent that he was offered a baseball cap for each member of his team with marked top ‘Make Tv Great Again’. But this does not seem to worry her unduly :
“The concept of television is already so old. I mean, we no longer have television at home, we have a screen, but we don’t have television. Why would we want to ? The tv is dead and buried. The one with which you and I grew up no longer exist […].
It is on the borders of existence now, and once it had disappeared completely, something far more interesting will take its place.”
This probably explains why the director of Drive and Pusher has chosen to work with the streaming platform, Amazon to create his first series, Too Old to Die Young. It looks very ambitious since his shooting is spread over not less than 10 months. It apparently will be composed of 10 one-hour episodes and should not leave before 2019.
The first official images have been released through IndieWire, but for the more curious he must know that Nicolas Winding Refn broadcasts live a large part of the filming. Here are the images in question, on which you can see Jena Malone, John Hawkes, and especially the main actor Miles Teller.
