The new series devoted to Watchmen begins to take shape, and the six actors come to be engaged for the main roles.

To adapt a work of panthéonique that the Watchmen, it is always complicated. And we know only too well with the various films of the MCU, and the DCEU, adapt it is bound to be a little untruthful. In this regard, Damon Lindelof in charge of the project promises a tone of “cool, wicked, electric, absurd,” but respects the universe imposed by Alan Moore and Dave Gibbons.

In short, a new original work, but totally different than what had been could be the excellent feature film from Zack Snyder. It is in a letter addressed to fans, the director, The Leftovers took the time to reassure the crowd.

The belle époque Watchmen

All that to say that with Damon Lindelof as showrunner, and HBO sign behind to produce all that, we can only be reassured. At least, for the moment. To play in this “original story that takes place in the same world carefully constructed by the designers and in the tradition that they have imagined”, so we meet a (very) nice lineup of actors.

Among them, the actress Regina King (American Crime), who is expected to embody Angela Abraham, a police afro-american described as : independent, intelligent, and realistic. Beside him is Louis Gossett Jr (Enemy), would play a former cop imposing (in what sense we don’t know) and influential. Andrew Howard will interpret Red Scare, a policeman, wormy close to the mafia. Adelaide Clemens (Rectify) to join the group under the name of “Pirate Jenny”, a female police officer, androgynous and bisexual, deeply anarchistic. Finally we will be reunited with Don Johnson (Django Unchained) and Tim Blake Nelson (The Incredible Hulk) in roles still unknown.

New faces. New masks to cover them. And more to come…

Then, inevitably, all of this generates a bit of anxiety in our little heart of a fan. We will not see Watchmen (Rorschach) such that we love them. It is a bit painful, we do not hide it. But the involvement of Damon Lindelof don’t want to ruin the masterpiece by Alan Moore and Dave Gibbons pushes us to believe in it. Not you ?
