Kate Middleton and prince William are only addressed that very rarely gestures of affection in public, and does not even keep the hand. An expert on the label deciphers this strange tradition.

Their love is a no-brainer. Wherever they are, even in the midst of events sometimes a bit too long and pompous, they seem happy to be together, forever complicit. Yet, prince William and his wife Kate Middleton are never signs of affection in public (with few exceptions) : no kiss, no hug… not Even a few steps hand in hand. Why is that ? Is it a ban due to their rank?

When questioned on this subject, Myka Meier, an expert in british etiquette, explains to the magazine People that there is in truth no official rule stating that members of the royal family do not have the right to be affectionate in public. The reason for Kate Middleton and her husband do never keep the hand so it is simple decency. The reasoning the more likely it is that when they are traveling, where they are attending an event, they are representatives of the british Crown. They must therefore remain very professional throughout their public appearances, explains she.

During each of these appearances in public, Kate and William are simply in full work, and it is for this reason that they do not kiss, or do not hold hands. The reverse could be misinterpreted by the officials they encounter. But, as pointed out People, when it comes to events a little less important, with little public, or not for a photographer for their deeds and actions, the two lovers are much more tender…
