Since Netflix arrived in France, the mood changed dramatically in the French production. To the point of freaking out the tv channels. Counter-attack and of France Télévisions is particularly violent.

It is true that the arrival of the network from the us has shaken our habits. Spectators already, as ne have discovered an endless supply as well as the trap of the binge-watching that we glue to our screen all weekend at the expense of our other activities. But his arrival, and his success, especially gave a big kick in the French production.

Ten per cent, THE French series of the moment

In fact, after 30 years in the past to eat the Navarro, Julie Lescaut , or the saga of the summer, the housewives, the producers and writers have seen in this competitor a space of freedom unpublished. Where tv and the French were still cautious, Netflix did not really limit, finally enabling them to do the real series as it has wanted for so long. Well, the first results are not really convincing, whether it’s Marseille or Plan Heart, but the way is open.

This poses however a problem with the tv, is that Netflix distributes some of the series in French, Ten percent in head, after their traditional distribution, which affects clearly the channels that are at the origin. In short, for the mainstream media, Netflix is the person to cut down and France Télévisions has signed, the 11th of January last, a historic agreement with the producers of our country. Thus, the agreement stipulates that the French productions that the group has helped to fund, from 1 January 2019 at 65% won’t be able to find it on platforms foreign before one or two after their original broadcast.

Marseille

This echoes, of course, to Ten Percent, including the season 3 was left on Netflix a few days after its broadcast on France 2, disabling the streaming service set up by the group who had not been able to propose that during the seven days before it is to be found on the platform.

If it does not necessarily mean that the series French is already available on Netflix will be removed from the catalogue, the intention is clear and twofold : on the one hand, the survival of channel classics in original drama, with the implicit obligation to adjust to the new expectations of the public, but on the other hand, there are, of course, the big project for France Télévisions, TF1 and M6, the platform Salto, which should bring together their creations and become a competitor of Netflix, including the in-service date is not yet specified. We wish her a lot of courage.
