Foundation, the series of books by Isaac Asimov, will be adapted into a tv series.
That is, the sides of Dune by Frank Herbert, or Hyperion by Dan Simmons, one of the works of science fiction, the most important, exciting, and magical : Foundation, a series of seven opus of Isaac Asimov, which began in 1951 and continued until the 90’s. While several attempts of film adaptation have failed over the years, Apple has laid hands on the sacred monster to shoot a series, which will be headed by David S. Goyer, known for having co-writer of the trilogy, The Dark Knight by Christopher Nolan.
The Wrap announced that Apple, who is going to start seriously in the online content service like Netflix and Amazon, develops an adaptation, with David S. Goyer and Josh Friedman as producers and show runners. Friedman is the writer of the War of The worlds directed by Steven Spielberg and The black Dahlia Brian de Palma, and had created Terminator : chronicles of Sarah Connor, television adaptation much more interesting than expected. A talented duo, therefore, or at least capable of being – let’s not forget that Goyer, currently embedded in Krypton, has directed Blade : Trinity.
Work, dense and exciting, the Foundation begins in the distant future, in more than 20 000 years. Humanity has spread throughout the galaxy, through countless planets that form a gigantic Empire capital of Trantor. The story starts with Hari Seldon, an old mathematician who has created a science called psychohistoire, which allows him to determine the future through mathematics and statistics. It predicts as well that the Empire will collapse, and give rise to millennia of chaos.
He then creates the Seldon Plan : to reduce to the maximum this era barbarian, and expedite the birth of a Second Empire, it puts in place a Foundation, on a remote planet, the purpose of which is to collect and protect the knowledge of mankind. This is the beginning of a great, great history, which is spread over years and years, with fantastic surprises and reflections on fate, free will, politics, and social construction. What give the vertigo to the team in charge of adapting this masterpiece.

This is not the first that the work of Isaac Asimov is coveted. At the end of the 90s, New Line has developed a film adaptation, that will never see the light of day. In 2009, the studio Columbia Pictures, which was reclaiming the rights, and announced Roland Emmerich (Independence Day, Stargate, the stargate) to the realization. Then, in 2014, this is HBO, who included : Jonathan Nolan was on the move. He has since devoted to Westworld.
It is finally a colleague of his brother, Christopher Nolan, David S. Goyer, which takes place as the chosen one, alongside Josh Friedman. A project that promises to be daunting, and that puts Apple as a competitor in the face of Netflix, Amazon and other Hulu. They are currently developing a series of M. Night Shyamalan, another with Reese Witherspoon and Jennifer Aniston, and another one of Ronald D. Moore (Battlestar Galactica).
Foundation has inspired many, no doubt…
