For most people, Clive Barker is the author of the saga Hellraiser but, in 1990, he has provided us with one of the most beautiful movies of monsters in the world : Cabal.

Cabal is a bit forgotten today and that’s a shame. Because at the time of its release, to any horror fan, it was a bit of the film the most anticipated of the early 90’s. Then at the top of his popularity thanks to Hellraiser – The covenant, the novelist Clive Barker was engaged in a true declaration of love to the monstrosity in telling us about the tragic story of Boone, a young man haunted by visions of a disease that appeared to be the savior of the community monstrous living in the cemetery of Midian.

An ode to the abnormality, which unfortunately has not known the fate that she deserved, the fault of a studio, Warner in the occurrence, which had badly cut the film. Fortunately, it is re-released on Blu-ray a few years ago in a Director’s Cut version under the label Warner Archive and, if it is not as successful as hoped, it is more consistent with the vision of its creator, and she was just fabulous at the base. Interestingly, at the end of the movie, a short teaser we announced Cabal 2… which never happened.

So this is the end of a long wait since the website Deadline has just confirmed that Cabal was going to actually come back but in the form of a tv series. For the moment, we know very little except that the network SyFy would have ordered the series and would circulate it, for better or for worse (as always with the chain). It is therefore Impossible to say more if not that the project is not new as it had already been mentioned in 2012 by Clive Barker himself, who promised that this version tv is “too graphic, sexy and violent as it must be.”

Attitudes have changed a lot in 28 years and the tv is now enabling to go all out in sex and violence, so there is hope that this orientation guide the project. In short, we cross everything we can cross to that the series is done and that it is well. Because Cabal, it’s just great and if you haven’t seen it, it is a duty of vacation. It is what it is.

Hell fucking yeah !
