The tv series Halo finally gives real news

Adaptations of video games at the cinema, it is usually all rotten but he’s worth a packet of dough, so it is understandable that the studios are stubborn to produce. But at times, there are real interesting projects that point the tip of their nose. Genre, Halo.

Halo, this is a bit of the arlésienne adaptations of video games. The rights had been bought by Peter Jackson there is a ten years old, who had entrusted the project to Neill Blomkamp. Unfortunately, the project never came to fruition, and Blomkamp is left to do District 9. The series Halo has already undergone some alterations, Halo legends or Halo : Nightfall , but nothing to the height of what we had been told originally.

It is therefore with some surprise that we learned at the end of the month of June, that the Showtime network is launched to turn in the adventure producing a tv series Halo. Only a few elements had been filtered, as is the fact that the first season will consist of 10 episodes and the director will be Rupert Wyatt’s rise (Ghost in the Shell) which is hardly reassuring. And that was about all we knew.

At the last Television Critics Association, the boss of Showtime, Gary Levine, has finally revealed a little more about her ambitious project, announcing that the character with the most iconic of the saga, Master Chief, will indeed be the main protagonist of the story. And besides, the plot will not be a rehash of the storylines of the video games, as well as the relayed the site Slashfilms :

“I think the screenwriter Kyle Killen is an author very much interested in the psychological depth of his characters. The obligation of departure for us was that the series had to coexist with our other productions on Showtime, giving the impression that it could exist only in us, while still satisfying the fans of this huge franchise. We don’t do that at all. We are very optimistic.

It is a story completely new, but who respects enormously the canon in force. Working with the people at Microsoft 343 is a need to ensure that any property in respect. We have made a conscious decision to engage a writer who is not versed in the science-fiction, because it is already contained in the Halo saga, and we will honour it, but we also want to ensure that under the armour of a Spartan, there’s real human drama, for this falls totally in line for Showtime.”

In short, Showtime promises heavy in his series, and it is hoped that they will be able to win this ambitious bet. Even though there is still a big problem to solve. If it is assumed that Master Chief is the hero and that the series will provide the human drama, how to do all of that with a character that does not take away forever his helmet and has never shown his face ? A paradox that would be at the centre of all questions of the production currently.
